What I Wish I Could Have Told My Younger Self

There are so many things I wish I could have told my younger self. Lessons that only came through experience, growth, mistakes, and time. If I could sit down with that younger version of me today, these are some of the things I would say.

Not everything is an emergency.

Some things can wait. Other things can't. We don't have to be so hard on ourselves trying to get everything right the first time. We don't have to fear failure or believe that failure is not an option. We can take things one step at a time and allow our journey to speak for itself. Whatever is meant to be will be.

Not everyone is going to like you, and that is okay.

The most important thing is that you like yourself. Be proud of yourself. Be authentic. You don't need to be someone else's version of perfect. You don't need to fit into someone else's expectations. You just need to be you—unequivocally you.

Life is short, so make the best of every moment.

Some moments are going to be hard. Others will become cherished memories. When I reflect on my life, I don't think about all the mundane details. I think about the key moments—the experiences that stood out and shaped me into the person I am today. Those are the moments that matter.

Stop worrying so much about the "why" and focus more on the solution.

It's easy to get trapped in the cycle of asking, "Why is this happening to me?" But often, that question doesn't move us forward. Whatever challenge you're facing, trust that you can get through it. Sometimes the answer isn't found in understanding why something happened, but in deciding what you'll do next.

You are going to meet a lot of interesting people.

Some people will come into your life for a season and then leave. Others will stay for a lifetime. Don't feel bad about relationships that aren't meant to last forever. Every person serves a purpose in your journey. Focus on who is in front of you right now and appreciate the role they play in your life today.

Take it one moment at a time.

Planning is good, but living is better. Spend less time worrying about what might happen tomorrow and more time being present today. Yes, there are practical things we should plan for—saving money, protecting our future, preparing for what's ahead. But don't become so focused on the future that you miss the life happening right now. Focus on being the best version of yourself today.

And when the storm comes, let it pass.

Don't try to fight every storm. This is probably the biggest lesson of all.

Storms will come, and storms will go. Challenges, heartbreaks, disappointments, and unexpected turns are all part of life. But just as every storm eventually passes, there is always something beautiful waiting on the other side.

There is a rainbow after the rain.

Don't spend all your energy worrying about the storms. Focus on the rainbows.

These are just a few of the many life lessons I have learned through the years. Lessons that have shaped not only who I am, but how I love, how I grow, and how I show up in the world.

If any of these resonate with you, then it was meaningful for me to write about them. I hope that you find peace and harmony on your journey. And remember, love your life, no matter what you are going through, you got this!
